In response to recent reported Israeli strike in Syria that killed Iranian officials, Mashregh website lists sons of current and former Israeli prime ministers as potential targets for retaliation, including Yair and Avner Netanyahu.
Is Iran targeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s sons for assassination? According to Iranian news website Mashregh, Iran could seek revenge for the recent killing of several Iranian military figures in a strike attributed to Israel, and the prime minister’s sons are among the potential targets.
On Jan. 18, an airstrike on the Syrian side of the border in the Golan Heights killed several high-ranking Hezbollah and Iranian figures. Among those killed were Jihad Mughniyeh, the son of assassinated Hezbollah military commander Imad Mughniyeh, and an Iranian general, Mohammed Ali Allahdadi.
The strike came days after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah vowed that Syria and its allies would respond to any Israeli “aggression” on Syrian soil.
The Iranian website featured a photo of Netanyahu’s sons, Yair and Avner, with sniper’s scopes superimposed on their faces. The list of potential targets on the website also included Gilad and Omri Sharon, sons of the late former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, as well as Shaul Olmert, the son of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
