Among what I consider my own personal strengths, along the road of life I have always looked to my elders for sound advice. As I see it, the best advice we can get comes from someone who has been to all the places in life we have yet to visit. From personal advice to career advice to advice on raising children, our elders have been there and are virtual wells of information waiting to be tapped. And I never found a respected elder less than eager to offer advice. But, you must listen carefully to every word, lest you miss the message.
Keep in mind, the first line of Ray’s following essay on President Trump’s upcoming State of the Union Address is purely speculation and one man’s prediction. It will be interesting to see if Ray’s prediction comes to bear. However, it is the rest of Ray’s essay I would like to draw attention to, as it is pure Star-Spangled optimism. After 82 years of seeing presidents come and go, Ray is more hopeful than ever. I believe he possesses a keen insight and intuition, born of a genuine interest in the machinations of his government, but more so the interest, welfare, and futures of his fellow citizens, individually and collectively.
Ray’s essay reminds me of an article I wrote two and a half years ago on the prospects of a Trump presidency. This was nearly a year before citizen Trump was the Republican nominee. At the time, he was battling sixteen of the best and brightest candidates the Republican Party had ever assembled. And he picked them off, one by one. I was a yuge Trump fan from the day of the now famous escalator ride and announcement of his candidacy and platform. Thus, I possessed at the time, and still do, I believe, a fair degree of Ray’s optimism and intuition. Call it aging. I wrote that article six days after the first GOP presidential debate, during which Megyn Kelly showed her ass and her bias against Donald Trump.
