These incidents are going to continue until local authorities prohibit protesters and anti-protesters occupying the same space.
A political reporter for The Hill, Taylor Lorenz, was punched in the face as she was filming the aftermath of a vehicle running into a crowd of people in Charlottesville, Virginia, reports BizPac Review.
…and being a reporter, she live-tweeted the whole thing.
Lorenz was at the intersection where the tragic incident took place and captured the carnage on film — there was one fatality. She continued to record as police and rescue workers arrived.
As Lorenz moved around to get a better angle of events taking place, a shirtless man suddenly screamed at her, “Stop the f**king recording!”
The same man, seen on the left in the screen grab above, then punched her in the face, she noted on Twitter:
And Lorenz was none too pleased about it.
The incident can be seen at the end of the following video, to include the car striking the crowd, beginning at the 1:05:30-minute mark:
Fortunately, the fascist thug who hit Lorenz, Jacob L. Smith, 21, of Louisa, Virginia, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, according to the Daily Mail.
Interestingly, while at the police station, Lorenz noted some intel she gleaned about the man driving the car that struck the crowd that counters the media narrative of a deliberate domestic terrorist attack.
“Anyway several police officers at the station here think the guy running people down wasn’t malicious. They said the driver was scared,” she tweeted, after she pointed out that witnesses said it was deliberate.
After much backlash, Lorenz added a follow up tweet for clarity:
