After being threatened with trade restrictions by President Trump, Mexico attempted to halt and/or impede the progress of the Central American caravan traveling north through en route the United States.

It was apparently a half-hearted attempt as the group of 1,500 Central Americans, mostly Hondurans, is still heading north. Mexico’s attempt caused approximately half of the human convoy to disperse into smaller groups, most believed to be still heading north for the US border which they claim they will cross illegally.

A CNN reporter is traveling with the caravan, reporting on its progress.

CNN’s Leila Santiago, covering the immigrant “caravan” moving through Mexico and toward the United States in recent weeks, asked the travelers where they intended to go on Monday. All who answered indicated that they would go to the United States to seek asylum.

Santiago first claimed that many of the migrants would stay in Mexico, and she asked those on the bus where they would go.

They are NOT staying in Mexico! They are heading north for a reason, to reach the perpetual gravy train they call Estados Unidos.

“They are fleeing violence from gangs that are controlling the areas in Honduras, Guatemala, El Savador, where they live,” she said. “Many of them will stay in Mexico.”

They did not back up her claim.

“Who will stay in Mexico?” she asked the bus in Spanish.

None of the migrants raised their hands.

“Who will go to the United States?” Santiago inquired immediately after.

Most of the bus raised their hands, while others did not answer.

These people are illegal immigrants in Mexico, having crossed its southern border illegally. Why didn’t Mexico deport them? President Trump should take swift and punitive action against the Mexican government if this caravan is allowed to reach the United States.
