So, who should replace Boner as Speaker of the House? Newt Gingrich weighs in without a mention of Powdered Wig’s top choice

By Thomas Madison

Newt Gingrich sees the race for next Speaker of the House being between Kevin McCarthy (CA) and Paul Ryan (WI), should Ryan decide to run. Ryan has so far announced that he will not run for the speaker’s chair. Newt named several other Republicans who will figure into the speaker’s race.

While we certainly defer to Newt’s intelligence and experience on matters inside the Capitol walls, we have to wonder why Trey Gowdy hasn’t been mentioned. He is an extremely bright and competent conservative and patriot. He would be our top choice for the position. Ideally, it will be a short assignment. Should Donald Trump win the election (we hope so), Gowdy is Trump’s choice as Attorney General, the perfect position for him, leaving the speaker’s chair again empty. There are several conservative patriots who could competently fill the speaker’s chair, chief among them Darrell Issa (CA), Jason Chaffetz (UT), and Louie Gohmert (TX).

One thing is certain – it is a very good thing to see RINO Boner gone!

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on Friday shared a short list of lawmakers who he believes will be among those considered to replace John Boehner as speaker of the U.S. House.

“Clearly, I think, Kevin McCarthy is the most likely next speaker because he is majority leader, he is very widely popular, he is a very smart guy,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich also said Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) would be a very “formidable” choice if he decided to run. However, Ryan announced earlier on Friday he does not want Boehner’s gavel.

He went on to list Reps. Tom Price (R-Ga.), Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Pete Sessions (R-Texas) as possible choices.

Scalise is expected to run for House speaker, sourced told the Times-Picayune.
