While it was largely a review of promises made and kept and a preview of promises yet to be delivered (border wall: “I will get it built!”), President Trump’s second State of the Union address was a roaring success with record approval numbers and unexpected bipartisan moments.
The contingent of Democrat women in the audience, easily recognizable by their white attire because they are so pure (LOL!), mostly sat on their hands in silent protest to ANYTHING President Trump had to say, although they found the president’s mention of advancements women have made in the job market and their unprecedented numbers in Congress an irresistible moment to vainly applaud themselves, jumping to their feet, cheering and pumping the air while chanting “USA, USA!.”
The facial expressions of House Speaker Nancy Plastic, seated behind the president as he spoke, were predictably bizarre, and I’m not sure if that was Mike Pence seated beside Madame Plastic or a mannequin. That guy has to work on finding a little charisma if he hopes to be da’ man in 2024.
