Republican Karen Handel won the most expensive congressional race in history in Georgia’s 6th District.

Largely a referendum on President Trump, this race was hard-fought and bitter, pitting a classic liberal against a popular conservative in a very red district.

Watch Handel’s victory speech as she thanks President Trump, inspiring the crowd to applaud and cheer, chanting, “Trump! Trump! Trump! Trump!”

Handel also took a moment to thank a “new friend,” Republican House Whip Steve Scalise, who called her regularly during the race to offer support until the tragic shooting in Alexandria, where he remains in the hospital, recovering from a gunshot wound.
