I am possibly Newt Gingrich’s biggest fan, and have been following the vice-presidential rumor mill closely, hoping that Newt will be The Donald’s choice for veep.

Interesting report from Fox News today, announcing that they have entered a mutual agreement with Newt to suspend his contributor agreement with the network.

According to Fox, “Due to the intense media speculation about Gingrich’s potential selection as Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential candidate, we felt it best to halt his contributor role on the network to avoid all conflicts of interest that may arise.” Or maybe they know more than they are reporting.

There have been many signs in recent days to further the Trump/Gingrich buzz. They have appeared publicly together on multiple occasions over the past week, Newt has been very high-profile and singing The Donald’s praises at every opportunity, and now Fox News has provided even more concrete evidence that Newt is the choice for Trump’s running mate.

One thing is certain – Donald Trump could not make a better selection for his second-in-command. Newt is a patriot, a team player, a constitutional expert and historian, can navigate the backrooms of Capitol Hill like no one else, and is a certified genius.

From Fox News

Newt Gingrich and Fox News Channel have mutually agreed to suspend the former House speaker’s contributor agreement with the network.

The decision comes as presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is vetting Gingrich and others for the role of possible running mate.

“FOX News Channel has mutually agreed to suspend its contributor agreement with Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich effective immediately,” Jay Wallace, Fox News executive vice president for news, said in a statement. “Due to the intense media speculation about Gingrich’s potential selection as Donald Trump’s Vice Presidential candidate, we felt it best to halt his contributor role on the network to avoid all conflicts of interest that may arise.”

Trump has not yet announced his vice presidential pick.

His short-list is thought to include Gingrich, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, and retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, among others.

Gingrich recently confirmed to Fox News that he’s been vetted.
