RINOs Try To Sabotage Cruz Interview
From Western Journalism, 9/25/2013
Fox News host Chris Wallace confirmed that he received unsolicited ammunition to use against a guest prior to a recent interview. The interviewee was outspoken, Tea Party-backed Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas; and the ammunition came from members of his own party, Wallace explained.
“This has been one of the strangest weeks I’ve ever had in Washington,” he said after the interview on his show, “Fox News Sunday.” He went on to say that “as soon as we listed Ted Cruz as our featured guest this week, I got unsolicited research and questions not from Democrats, but from top Republicans … to hammer Cruz.”
The scope of that research and the identities of the “top Republicans” has not been revealed, though some of Cruz’s supporters are calling on Wallace and Fox News to divulge that information.
In addition to a social media plea from Sarah Palin, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) also put pressure on the network while chastising some in his own party.
“I would be very curious,” he said of the information Wallace received. “I would love to know who those names are. I found that very disturbing; I found it very surprising.”
Cruz spoke on his own behalf during an interview on the same network Monday.
Speaking to host Sean Hannity, Cruz said that establishment Republicans target him and anyone who “changes the clubby way Washington does business.”
In typical Cruz fashion, though, he did not seem overly distracted by the development, saying, “no matter what they do, I’m not going to respond in kind.”
Lee suggested the intraparty squabble would be addressed at an upcoming meeting.
