A man tried to mow the Lincoln memorial for freeout of respect. The responsefrom the government? They kicked him out. They want the place to look as run down as possible to make the “government shutdown” seem as rough as possible for political reasons.
Earlier this week, a park ranger said he was told to make this as “difficult as possible” for people. True to their word, the feds have shut down the WWII memorial, kicked Vietnam vets out of the Vietnam memorial, locked up tourists in a hotel with armed guards, and have even shut down private businesses.
This should prove once and for all that things are out of hand. The federal government no longer exists to protect us — it exists to control us, extort us, and tax us. How sad.
According to the Weekly Standard:
Earlier today, an unidentified bearded man took it upon himself to bring his lawnmower and a few tools to the Lincoln Memorial to provide free groundskeeping work to the closed federal monument.
It’s unclear how much of the expansive lawn behind the memorial was mowed, but Park Police were alerted and three cruisers with multiple officers showed up.
THE WEEKLY STANDARD watched the officers observing the mystery mowerfrom a distance, as he appeared to be packing it up for the day, carefully placing his blue South Carolina flag in a tube attached to his tool-toting dolly.
According to Park Police public information officer Sergeant Paul Brooks, there was no arrest made. “He was asked to leave, and he complied,” said Brooks.
How sad. Politics trumps our desire to show basic respect at the memorials. Spread this around so people can see what’s going on. Facebook and Twitter are generally best.
