Face Palm.

Barack Obama is flying to Saudi Arabia to pay his respects to the new ‘King.”

Obama was skewered by friend and foe for skipping last month’s historic, massive rally against terrorism in Paris, in the wake of the Islamic jihad attacks against the French paper Charlie Hebdo.Obama did not attend with other world leaders, nor did he send Joe Biden or John Kerry to represent us, bringing rightful indignation from all quarters.

Obama also blew off the funeral of legendary British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, in 2013. And again, did not send any senior officials either.

But after this week’s death of Saudi King Abdullah, and the assumption to absolute power of his half-brother, who has named himself King Salman, Obama is going to great lengths to make sure he is on hand to honor to the new dictator of the Islamic state of Saudi Arabia, which has one of the worst human rights records on the planet.

CNN reports:

U.S. President Barack Obama will travel to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in order to meet thenewly appointed monarch, King Salman, and pay his respects to the family of the late King Abdullah, the White House said Saturday.

Vice President Joe Biden was originally set to have led a delegation to Saudi Arabia on Obama’s behalf.

So Biden isn’t good enough to attend, Obama must go himself. Yet Obama has told Israeli officials he will refuse to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visits Washington next month.

In addition to Paris, Obama is skipping the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, which is being attended by nearly every other Western president or prime minister. This will be the last major anniversary which will include actual survivors of the Nazi horror, due to their advanced age. But then again, Obama has made quite clear whose narrative he favors in the Muslim-Jewish conflict.

Minor detail also: 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi.
