A lot of people don’t realize that most unions only exist because they are able to use government force to keep people in their union. When “Right to Work” policies are passed, the unions suddenly have to actually offer union members more than they can get individually — meaning many members leave because unions aren’t worth the money.

Since Right-to-Work legislation was passed by Gov. Scott walker in Wisconsin two years ago, the unions around the country have watched in fear as they know what the result will be — a better system, eventually without the unions.

Now it’s happening. The third largest teachers’ union just had its teachers overwhelmingly vote to abandon it as it began missing basic deadlines. This is a victory for the free market.
