Far-left Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg vowed to support free speech on January 9th and then banned criticism of Islam two weeks later.

For years Facebook has censored criticism of Islam. However, now they are making it a formal policy.

Facebook has an army of censors who work in 3rd world countries for $1.50 an hours. Nearly half of Facebook’s censors work at an office building in Morocco, which is a Muslim country. Even if it wasn’t Facebook’s formal policy, the end result was that criticism of Islam was routinely deleted.

However, Facebook just announced that it is introducing a formal policy of deleting pages which are critical of Islam.

Immediately after the Turkish Prime Minister marched for “Free Speech” in Paris, the Turkish government blocked hundreds of websites from the nation’s internet feed. The primary reason, for blocking websites, was for publishing Charlie Hebdo cartoons. The Turkish government gave Facebook an ultimatum. Ban criticism of Islam, or be banned in Turkey.

Facebook replied that they will institute a world-wide ban on criticism of Islam on Facebook. The announcement comes two weeks after Zuckerberg himself publicly pledged support for freedom of speech after the Chairle Hebdo killings.

Turkey currently blocks Twitter and Youtube for allowing criticism of Islam.

Facebook has censored conservatives since the website was founded. Recently Facebook deleted American White History Month, a page with over 300,000 followers. (A new version of the page can be found here.)

Mark Zuckerberg’s comically disingenuous public statement on Freedom of Speech 1/9/15…

A few years ago, an extremist in Pakistan fought to have me sentenced to death because Facebook refused to ban content about Mohammed that offended him.

We stood up for this because different voices — even if they’re sometimes offensive — can make the world a better and more interesting place.

Facebook has always been a place where people across the world share their views and ideas. We follow the laws in each country, but we never let one country or group of people dictate what people can share across the world.

Yet as I reflect on yesterday’s attack and my own experience with extremism, this is what we all need to reject — a group of extremists trying to silence the voices and opinions of everyone else around the world.

I won’t let that happen on Facebook. I’m committed to building a service where you can speak freely without fear of violence.

My thoughts are with the victims, their families, the people of France and the people all over the world who choose to share their views and ideas, even when that takes courage. #‎JeSuisCharlie‬
