When criticized about the effectiveness of a border wall, President Trump always points to Israel’s wall as an example of the success of a border wall and the wisdom of building one.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended, on Saturday night, US President Donald Trump’s plan to build a wall on the US southern border, according to World Israel News.

“President Trump is right,” Netanyahu wrote on Twitter. “I built a wall along Israel’s southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea.”

Netanyahu was referencing a recently constructed fence on Israel’s southwestern border with Egyptmeant to stop the illegal immigration of tens of thousands of African migrants into Israel.  He was responding positively to Trump’s remarks regarding Israel’s construction of walls for national security reasons during an interview that aired on Thursday with Fox News.

“All you’ve got to do is ask Israel,” Trump said when speaking of what he felt is the necessity of a border wall between the United States and Mexico. “They (Israel) were having a total disaster coming across and they had a wall. It’s 99.9 percent stoppage.”
