Congress has finally put their feet down in response to illegality from this runaway regime.

116 members of Congress have signed and sent a letter to Hussein Obama informing him of what he already knows. The president does not have the authority to declare war. That power resides constitutionally with the Congress. They intend to require him to act within that Constitutional framework. 18 Democrats were among those who signed the letter.

Perhaps this has something to do with a hesitation on the regime’s part of their offensive preparations for an anticipated impending military action targeting Syria.

TheHill.com reports the content of the letter as:

“Engaging our military in Syria when no direct threat to the United States exists and without prior congressional authorization would violate the separation of powers that is clearly delineated in the Constitution,” the author of the letter, Rep Scott Rigell, (R-Va),”I’m grateful and encouraged by the strong, bipartisan support this letter has received. It’s a clear indication that this issue is not personal to the president, but rather represents common ground in Congress and a deep respect for the Constitution.”

The Hill lists the signatories as Reps. Zoe Lofgren (Calif.), Rush Holt (N.J.), Beto O’Rourke (Texas), Peter DeFazio (Ore.), Kurt Schrader (Ore.), William Enyart (Ill.), Tim Walz (Minn.), Sam Farr (Calif.), Bruce Braley, (Iowa), Jim McDermott (Wash.), Michael Capuano (Mass.), Anna Eshoo (Calif.), Earl Blumenauer (Ore.), Peter Welch (Vt.), Rick Nolan (Minn.), David Loebsack (La.), Jim Matheson (Utah) and Collin Peterson (Minn.).

The letter also removes a convenient out for the president of the August recess, by offering to reconvene at his convenience.

In addition to the statement regarding Syria, the letter acknowledges that the independent action taken by the White House in the 2011 Libyan attack was unconstitutional as it was unauthorized by Congress.
